AGREEMENT made September 29th, 1923 between Lt. Col. Nangle 47 Victoria Street London S.W. 1. on behalf of the Newfoundland National War Memorial Committee hereinafter called “the Client” of the one part and Messrs F.V. Blundstone and Gilbert Bayes of 15. Douro Place and 40 Boundary Road respectively hereinafter called “the Sculptor” of the other part.

In consideration of the sum of ₤1,250 ( Twelve hundred and fifty pounds) to be paid by the Client to the Sculptors at the time and in the manner specified below the Sculptors shall execute to the best of their skill and ability in clay and in accordance with the sketch designs prepared by the Sculptors and approved by the Client:

            Four figures 7 ft. high ( including base of approx. 6 in. )

            A Soldier, a Sailor , a Merchant Sailor, and a Forester, also one allegorical figure 9 ft. high ( including base of approx. 6  in.)

Payments. The Client shall pay the Sculptors the remuneration agreed upon in the following installments, that is to say as to one half on the approval by the Client of the sketch designs submitted by the Sculptors.

As to one half on the completion of the full sized model in clay provided always that as the work includes more than one piece of sculpture one half only of the proportionate cost of each shall be paid on the completion thereof in clay.
