The chairman F Somerton Esg announced the respective votes to the audience present Viz, that the Old Parsonage Hill had received the highest vote and was therefore the site selected. He also stated that the chosen site would require a great deal of free labour for cleaning up the debris, making a road to the ground; securing it, and suggested that Empire Day would be a good day for free labour for doing the above work also for getting sand and stone, which were necessary for the foundation of the monument, and extended an invitation to all the labouring men of the community to show their patriotism and love for our fallen heroes who had laid down their lives for us, to come forward with their free labour on Empire Day.
