FIRST NEWFOUNDLAND REGIMENT RESERVE FORCE
Men will be enlisted for active service under the
following conditions.

After they have passed the medical examination and
been finally accepted by the Recruiting Officer at St. John’s they will
be sworn in and undergo training until such time as it is decided to
send the contingent abroad.

Pay will be at the rate of one dollar per day and
ten cents per day field allowance and will begin as soon as the men are
sworn in. While in St. John’s the men will find board and lodging for
themselves and an allowance of fifty cents per day will be made to them
on this account in addition to the pay as above.

Free transportation will be provided from all
outports to St. John’s on an order from the Magistrates to recruits who
have passed local medical examination. While recruits are rejected
at St. John’s transportation will be provided to enable them to return
to their homes.

At the present time single men only are required
between the age of nineteen and thirty-six, not less than five feet three
inches height, chest average 34 inches, weight 120 lbs.
