The following is a nominal roll showing the names of
those who answered Roll Call, in accordance with the records of the
District Office of the Department of Veterans Affairs, St. John’s,
Newfoundland, following the attack at Beaumont Hamel on 1 July 1916.
The original entry in the records is:
“4.7.16 ‘ Roll Call following attack 1 July 1916’.”
It is pointed out that 4 July is the date of the
entry made in the date of the Roll Call. Also the rank shown is the
highest rank attained according to the records and an asterisk is used to
indicate that an officer or man lost his life at a later date during his
service.
