1st October, 1919 Dear Sir, I am in receipt of your letter of the 23rd September, with respect to the Memorial Card of your late son, Lance Corporal Henry A. King, who was killed in action on April 13th, 1918. I may say that these Memorial Cards have been prepared in the order of the date of the casualty, and as the report of your son’s death was among some of the last to be received, it will be necessary that all cards relating to men whose deaths were reported previous to that of your son, shall be completed and forwarded first. I may say that this particular card was written some weeks ago and sent to Messrs. Ayre & Sons for framing, and I understand that they are having the cards completed and sent to the different persons, as quickly as circumstances will permit. I have no doubt that you will receive your card in a short time. Yours faithfully, Deputy Colonial Secretary Mr. Richard King, ( of Wm) Source: The Rooms, Provincial Archives, St. John's, NL
